605 Building Renovation
Total Transformation: Old jail cells to new office building!
This was a unique project; it is the only former jail to be completely converted into a new office building in the country. The jail was mostly gutted out in a previous phase that was also done by NGC. This phase started with an empty shell. The existing building is a four story precast concrete building. Although the building was mostly gutted out, there was still a large amount of demolition work in this phase that included removing heavy steel doors, slab on grade in the lower level, cantilevered concrete slabs on 3rd floor and numerous block walls that were not removed in the previous phase. We also had to cut hundreds of new window openings in the exterior of the precast. A big challenge to the project that made it financially feasible for the county was to infill large openings front in the 3rd floor and roof to create more usable space. without being able to do that, the 3rd floor would not have been usable. We also constructed a new sky walk that connected the 575 building to the 605 building which made the entire campus more usable for the county and the courts. Most of the interior was finished into new offices and meeting spaces for different departments for the county. The lower level also was build to house a new drug testing facility for the county.

Steven Hopper, Shamrock Development
Their true open book approach to costs, information, and prudent reviews with the design team not only helped keep the project in line with budget and vision, but it also allowed construction to begin four months earlier than traditional methods. Their team provided a seamless transition from preconstruction into the actual construction phase.
Steve Schmidt, Frontier Bank
What a pleasure it was to work with NGC! The crew was absolutely great and I truly appreciate their attention to timelines. The weekly reports via email were beneficial and informative as well.
